Europe's pushing strict new rules on product lifecycle data, starting with batteries, and China’s following with its own standards for textiles. That’s where IOTA comes in: Singapore-based Orobo is building compliance infrastructure for Digital Product Passports (DPPs) using the IOTA blockchain. Think of DPPs as machine-readable, tamper-proof records tied to physical goods—tracking materials, origins, and even recycling data. Regulators are mandating this level of transparency for global market access. No DPP? No trade in Europe soon.

Orobo’s platform already links supply chains across continents. For example, an electric bus battery made in China, assembled in Singapore, used in the Netherlands, and then recycled in Europe gets a single shared data record. IOTA’s public ledger anchors this data with tamper-proof hashes, meaning any authorized party in that chain can verify the info without trusting one another. That neutrality is key—Orobo doesn’t control the data but ensures it’s verifiable.

This isn’t theoretical. Orobo’s tech is live in industries like batteries, construction, and even cacao farming. It’s also working closely with EU and Asian regulators to set DPP standards, which could cement IOTA’s role as the backbone for compliance infrastructure.

For stakers, this matters because Orobo directly drives IOTA adoption. More usage means more transactions, which keeps the network active and strengthens its long-term value. It doesn’t impact staking rewards immediately, but higher adoption could eventually lead to increased demand for IOTA tokens, indirectly benefiting holders.

The bigger picture: DPPs are likely to expand beyond batteries and textiles. As global trade adopts stricter rules, having IOTA as the tech behind compliance could position it as a go-to blockchain for these use cases. For now, keep an eye on how quickly adoption scales—and how much of that translates to network activity.
